*Never throw away your passport. Keep it safely.
*You have to first register yourself on the website of Passport Seva.
*Aadhar card no.is compulsory.
*Give references of people who are always available in town as they are required to produce their identity proof and sign at the time of Police Verification.
*On the day of your appointment, be at the Passport Seva Kendra(PSK) before the reporting time. Carry all your original documents alongwith 2 photocopies of each.
*When you’re let inside PSK, your documents will be verified and if found correct and as per required, you will be given a token with a number printed on it.
*You have to watch the screen on which the token numbers will be displayed. There are three counters, A>>B>>C.
*You don’t need passport size photo because they will click your photo at counter A, verify details, take fingerprints and tell you to wait in queue for counter B.
*It takes a lot of time to get it processed at B, especially if it’s lunch time.
*After B, you have to go to counter C.
*Don’t forget to collect the Acknowledgement Receipt when you exit PSK.
*After 15 days, a Police Inspector will visit your current address to verify it and will hand over a form in which details and signature of your references need to be filled in. Do not give your family member’s name as a reference. It is mandatory for the reference person to be your neighbour.
*You have to submit the form at the Police Station you’ve mentioned in your passport application. It took me a lot of time there. Carry all your original documents with two photocopies of each.
*After 3-4 days, you will be intimated by mail whether your passport has been printed or not.
*Within 2 days of receipt of this mail, your passport will be delivered to your current address via Speed Post.
